He established the first shipbuilding workshop in Shanghai in 1924, which would later become the foundation of the Chinese Shipyard Corporation. He also oversaw the construction of the Yangtze River Bridge, one of the longest bridges in the world, in 1955, and played a key role in shaping the growth of the Chinese shipping industry.
