Horst Hummel is a German former professional footballer who played as a midfielder for Borussia Dortmund, one of the most successful clubs in German football history. Born on February 17, 1965, in Darmstadt, Germany, Hummel began his career at hometown club VfB Stuttgart before moving to Schalke 04 in 1988.

Hummel made his debut for Schalke during the 1989–90 season and quickly established himself as one of the team's key players. He helped Schalke win two Bundesliga titles and two German Cups during his time there, earning him widespread recognition as one of the best midfielders in Europe.

In 1992, Hummel joined Borussia Dortmund, where he would spend the next 18 years of his career. Under the guidance of manager Jürgen Klopp, Dortmund became one of the most dominant teams in European football, winning four consecutive Bundesliga titles between 2004 and 2007.
